The Grantham Area Chamber of Commerce was organized in February 2006 to facilitate, encourage and promote commerce that enhances the quality of life in our region. In a short time, the members of this new chamber have worked together to support projects that positively influence our community’s sense of place. We’ve provided uniforms to three Grantham teams — one farm league team and one minor league team and one girl’s softball team — as well as a flag to the new Town Office. We’re playing a significant role in locating a new ball field in Grantham to meet the recreational needs of a growing town. The chamber is also planning fundraisers to support local nonprofit organizations and student scholarship funds.
Although the Chamber is community minded, we’re also helping Grantham area businesses do business — networking happens at every chamber meeting. And we’ve published our first directory of members, a handy guide for residents, part-timers and visitors to find the products and services they need — right here in the Grantham area. The Web site, www.granthamareachamber.com, marks our first year anniversary and will give many of our members a presence on the Internet. There’s much more in store for 2007.
